our Vision

Renewable Energy

There is a tremendous concern for available electrical power during hurricane disasters, rising energy cost, power outages, and the massive interruption of the quality of life in the rural parish of Plaquemines. Moving in this direction is adding Solar Panels to the St. Paul Hall as a renewable energy source. This would provide a power source to the facility and provide it with the independent ability to maintain its chief intersecting role in the community. A large generator will also be installed on the property to provide generated power at any needed time. This will allow the St. Paul Hall to function in its new role as the first Resilient Center operating in Plaquemines Parish. To bring this vision into existence the St. Paul Benevolent Association has maintained its long and lasting relationship with the Louisiana Lighthouse Project and Together Louisiana.

With this renewable energy source, the facility will be able to:

  1. Serve as an Information Center for disaster recovery information made available from national, state, local governments, major non-profits organizations, and Faith-based institutions.

  2. Provide refrigeration service for storing special medicine needed for targeted and at-risk residents of the community and above the flood protection gates located at Oakville.

  3. Provide a Power Hub of on-site computers with internet services for residents to maintain contact with their families and local case management agencies along with the ability to charge their various devices.

  4. Provide hot meals and food distribution to area residents directed affected by the rising cost of food due to hurricanes and/or economic disasters.

  5. A large Generator and Solar Panels on the ceiling will be available to provide an immediate power source in the time of storms or power outages.

The St. Paul Hall will then be allowed to function as a viable and first RESILIENT CENTER in Plaquemines Parish with its new Mission Theme: “Footprints of the Past and Blueprints fo the Future”.
